Complex Litigation Expertise

Timothy Norton graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, with BA in History (Soviet-Russian History). While at Tulane, he spent his junior year abroad at the University of St. Andrews, St. Andrews, Scotland, and the following summer at the Center for Meso-American Studies in Antigua, Guatemala. Before graduating he traveled widely, including the National Outdoor Leadership School’s Cascade Range Climbing program. After tour of Yosemite, he returned to New Orleans to receive his JD in 1984 from the Tulane University School of Law, with an emphasis on the emerging field of computer law. In 1986, he moved to the South Bay, where he was soon called to the world of complex litigation, and the pursuit of waves, steep powder, ventures across the globe, and enjoying every moment of life’s pure adventure.

Career highlights include a $10.8m jury verdict in his first construction defect jury trial, and later, a $180m jury verdict, with a $70m punitive damages award, on a complex year-long construction defect jury trial held on the island of Guam.

The majority of his cases are referrals from existing clients and attorneys. These cases are typically large-scale complex actions against multiple adversaries and their insurance companies. Often these cases may start out as a defense of our clients who have been sued, and the case is turned into an offense through affirmative cross-claims and turning the tables. This requires a combination of experience, knowledge and tactics in all aspects of litigation from negotiation to trial.
